Flood

Here are some pictures of some activities we did around the end of April and early May. One point of interest was the week of rain, but I'll get to that further down.
I loved this bluebird that perched in one of our trees.

Craft time at Bible Club.
On our way to Bible Club, Dad needed us to drop something off at a job. The boys spotted this deer lying down under the deck.
Playing games.
The first week in May, it rained and rained and rained! On the fourth day, our pond, which had been nearly empty, looked like this. We were so excited! Little did we know how much more rain was on the way!
This was a few days later, seen from the house. The pond overflowed, and there was water running out the other side and going into the neighbor's pasture! Everything was soaked.
Several window wells got a lot of water in them.
The rain had started Monday. Saturday morning, we discovered that the basement floor was getting wet. Dad got a little hose going to take the ground water outside, and we had to move everything off the wet carpet so we could clean up the water with a shop vac.
My room had one wet spot, so I dried it up as much as I could with a shop vac. In the girls' room, the water kept seeping in continually. Dad had two shop vacs running all the time, just sucking up the water as it came in. He and Sam took turns getting up at night to check pumps they had put in window wells to pump the water out. We were sure glad to have a dad with brains and brawn for keeping the basement dry! For once we were glad when the rain stopped!
The trail we like to walk on had this miniature canyon carved through it from all the running water.

We saw water where we never had seen it before!
When there's enough runoff, this hollow fills up. There was plenty of runoff this time!
All the rain made grass and flowers grow really well! The outdoors is just beautiful right now.
