Travel pictures

On the way to the airport to fly to Pennsylvania for a few weeks, I took one last picture of Pikes Peak with the glow of the sunrise on it.

And I admired the western beauty of fall.

On my second flight, I enjoyed the clouds.

The lights of Harrisburg.

Thank the Lord for a safe trip! Now I am enjoying shopping, singing,talking, and of course working with my cousins.

Aspen!

One evening, I drove through the mountains to pick up Sam from a job he was doing with someone from church. On the way, I pulled over several times just to take pictures of the gorgeous aspen.

The north side of Pikes Peak.

More pictures

I was pulled over for a while because I thought the engine needed more antifreeze.I was stopped at a  nice spot, at least. (As it turned out, I didn't need to have worried about the engine.)

Where I pulled over.

These were taken across the road from the car.

God has created so much beauty. I enjoyed the beautiful aspen.

The Prairie in Fall

The sun shines on frosty fence posts.
There is beauty in the grasses of the prairie--but you have to look for it. You have to be persistent--especially when you are walking the dogs and they seem to want their picture taken with the tree.

Okay, I may as well take your picture too.

Finally what I wanted-- a picture of just the tree!

I enjoy this beautiful little cottonwood.

Even thistles can be beautiful.

This may be just a simple little vine,but it's still pretty.

Can you find the ladybug in this picture?

Captured! But not for long. I thought of taking it home and adding it to Hannah's ladybug collection, but then it flew away. Well, now it's free.

The leaves of the wild rose plant get colorful in the Fall.

Just by looking, you can find beauty where, at first, it just looked like brown grass.

The Prairie Skies

One of the first snows on Pikes Peak.
Here are some pictures I would like to share.

I enjoyed taking some pictures of clouds. This picture is of a low cloud bank after a storm.

One morning we were working outside when Danny discovered this easily visible sun dog. It's amazing to me how this was created from the sun shining on the clouds.

The prairie skies at evening and at night.

The beauty and majesty of the prairie skies points to the beauty and majesty of their Creator.

O Love That Will Not Let Me Go

O Love that will not let me go,

I rest my weary soul in Thee;

I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O Light that followest all my way,

I yield my flickering torch to Thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,

That in Thy sunshine's blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to Thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,

And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from Thee;

I lay in dust life's glory dead,

And from the ground there blossoms red,
Life that shall endless be.

Amen.

The Faith of a Little Child

Do you ever feel like this?
Sometimes life feels crazy and out of control, and you wonder if you'll come through alive. That's when you need the faith of a little child. You can learn a lot from little children. Like being happy with something as simple as mashing bananas. Maybe your idea of happiness is not mashing bananas, and that's perfectly understandable. But you can enjoy whatever simple joys life offers you. (Such as watching your delighted little brother mash bananas.)

 Take a deep breath and enjoy the happy moments. This is the coat of many colors that Danny drew to illustrate his Bible lesson.

An illustration of Joseph in the pit. When I asked Danny what the pink squiggles were, he answered, "Worms". Love his imagination!

This picture reminds me of a line from a song: "I give Thee back the life I owe, that in Thy ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be."

Back to work.

Oh dear. What do I do now?

Sometimes we just want to hide from all the problems of life.

But you can't stay under the table forever. Just keep going and laugh at the cameras.

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
                                                                                          (Heb. 12:1-2)

Keep looking up to our faithful God. He will see you through.
